About Us

The Australian Bike Vault – Stolen Bicycles Australia website is operated by Stolen Bicycles Australia Ltd (SBA). SBA is a non-profit organisation, founded in late 2015 by avid bike riders and former police.

The mission of SBA is to deter and disrupt bike theft and the black market trade of stolen bikes and assist bike theft victim’s and police to locate, recover and reunite stolen bikes with their owners.

To achieve our aim, we provide the following free services to the cycling community and police of Australia:

The SBA Team

The SBA team is made up of three directors and two administrative volunteers.

Brad Kellas – Executive Director (Founder)

Brad is an avid bike rider, who equally loves riding his bike and assisting victims and police to locate and recover stolen bikes and return them to their rightful owners.

Brad is a former Detective from the Victoria Police, where he served most part of his 20-year career in various specialist crime squads. In 2010, Brad resigned from the police and moved to Queensland, to pursue a new career direction and to enjoy riding in warmer weather.

Brad has had a lifelong penchant for helping people, which is something he missed when he resigned from the police. In 2014, Brad had a health scare whilst training for an Ironman that caused him to re-evaluate life and drove him to look for philanthropic endeavours. As a late adopter of social media, Brad found his perfect fit when he identified the increasing issue of bike theft and the opportunities presented by social media and a purpose built website database and expert service to tackle the issue.

Committed to the cause, Brad has worked full time on SBA since October 2015, developing the website, growing an online community and helping victim’s and police to locate, recover and reunite stolen bikes all over Australia.

Simon Dowling – Director

Simon is a keen bike rider who likes to compete in triathlons and is passionate about recovering stolen bikes and reuniting them with their owners.

Simon is also a former Detective from the Victoria Police, where he served the community for 15 years, before resigning in 2004 to pursue business interests. Simon helps out and shares the load after hours and on the weekends reviewing stolen bike reports and contacting victims and police.

Will Holmes a Court – Director

Will loves to ride bikes as much as he likes helping people.

Will a keen road rider, brings experience with running not for profit organisations. He is the former CEO of the NSW National Trust and has worked in worked in various, not for profit roles. Will, like all the directors is passionate about making a difference to bike theft in Australia.
